Our Regional Prime South East team held their fifth Health and Safety Forum at High Wycombe recently with collaboration from the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), our supply chain partners and the Health and Safety Executive. The aim of the forum was to ensure that all teams were focused on health and safety and making sure that it remained high on their agenda.
The event was organised and run by our Safety, Health, Environment and Fire Specialist Steve Matthews. Safety is a high priority across the defence estate and our Regional Prime South East team has reached an incredible 4.5 million hours without a Lost Time Incident (LTI). An achievement like this is not reached without a strong focus on health and safety.
The one day event included a keynote speech from Peter Franklin, our Health and Safety Director, a detailed presentation on Gas Safety Management from Dan Patterson, our Gas Safety Manager, and a group exercise capturing the critical priorities for operating a safe environment.
The forum was concluded with a note of caution from Regional Operations Director, John Riley, reminding all those present that, “unless we remain vigilant, the safety of our staff and end users will be at risk and the excellent safety record we’ve achieved will be lost.”
Philip Martin, DIO’s Senior Health and Safety Advisor, said, “I was very encouraged with the one team approach at the Forum to include all CarillionAmey’s supply chain in our safety culture, so that we can jointly supply a better service to our customers.”
