We have been working closely in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and one of our supply chain partners, Skanska, to develop sixty brand new Service Family Accommodation (SFA) in the South East of our National Housing Prime contract.
The first phase of the project was the completion of thirty new SFA at Worthy Down. The homes were successfully handed over in December and are all now available for allocation. The project, valued at around £9 million, also includes new roads and communal areas as well as the refurbishment of an existing play park for our customers.
The benefits of the project include the provision of new houses ready for the unit move from Deepcut Barracks and two of the new properties will include duel electric supply to accommodate the American exchange personnel. Stuart Price and Mark Swanborough are managing the project from Skanska and working closely with members from our South East team, Stephen Paine and Christopher Shaw, and DIO’s Dave Simpson and Malcolm Jones, meeting on a regular basis to ensure a smooth delivery.
Worthy Down Support Branch Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Joanna Brain, inspected the first allocated new build and “was more than impressed by the standard and quality.”
Captain Aaran Wilson, the first official tenant of the new Service Family Accommodation, and his family are “more than satisfied with the quality and standard of my new home. CarillionAmey have already remedied some minor faults that were expected in a new build.”
