In 2016, we signed the Armed Forces Covenant and made a commitment to support our Armed Forces and their families by upholding the principles of the Covenant which includes treating all members of the military community with fairness and respect, and supporting Service Personnel and their families at all times.
We’re delighted to announce that, only twelve months later, we’ve been awarded the Bronze award meaning we are recognised as an Armed Forces-friendly business, who are open to employing reservists, veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners.
We’ve achieved this by working closely with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), sharing our vacancies with Defence partner organisations and offering interviews to any reservist or veteran who applies for a position with us. We also offer, where possible, work placements for those leaving the military.Currently, 10% of our staff have a military connection and we are keen to use their skills and experiences to help steer us in the right direction, ensuring that the decisions we make are the right ones.
In addition, we also support members of the Reserves who work for us by giving them time off to carry out their training and deployment services. And, thanks to the generosity of our staff, we’ve raised more than £150,000 for SSAFA’s mentoring scheme, helping Service leavers settle back into civilian life.
