09 November 2017: CarillionAmey volunteers clean up the graves of fallen heroes

Staff from our Regional Prime contract, joined forces with local grounds maintenance contractor, CRL, to carry out a much needed clean-up of the headstones of heroes buried at a church near one of our sites.

We offer all staff one day a year to carry out volunteering work within their local community and our team spent their day washing 46 war grave headstones, as well as lifting the leaves, cutting the grass and giving the area a general tidy up. To mark Remembrance Day they also laid memorial crosses, donated by the Antrim branch of the British Legion, on each of the graves. Our team and CRL also came together to remember those who lost their lives in the Battle of the Atlantic, which waged war against the German U boat threat in 1942.

Our team donated £50.00 to the British Legion, which was matched by one of our Area Managers, who donated £50.00 to our corporate charity partner, SSAFA. The local Rector and Station Padre expressed their thanks to everyone involved.
