12 April 2018: CarillionAmey ready to meet the Additional Works challenges for the year ahead

Our Regional Prime South East team is running a series of Additional Works Services (AWS) workshops and the first of these was held at Sandhurst this week. They aim to develop a robust team approach and prepare staff to meet the AWS challenges for the year ahead. The workshops also aim to ensure that we meet our commitment to deliver the agreed Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) programme of AWS on time, on budget and to a high quality.

Over the next few weeks the three area teams of Project Managers, Delivery Managers, Operations and Commercial staff will be working together at the workshops. The focus will be making sure that everyone understands the process and what is required of them, individually and as a team. They’ll also be looking at what support is available to them to achieve and how progress will be monitored.

The initiative is the result of feedback from across the business and DIO. Individual skills have been assessed and we have identified key areas for improvement within the process. Following this assessment, a remedial programme for improvement has been designed. The training will include individual management skills and regular process reviews.

We will also be ensuring that, in line with our values, we deliver, take ownership, improve and achieve together. Rob James, Our Regional Prime South East Additional Works Manager, said, “We deliver additional works services to a discerning customer, the Ministry of Defence. We want our projects to run with military precision, to meet their demands and to deliver at the right price at the right time and at the right quality. We can only do this by working as a close and supportive team. This event is all about developing that ethos. ”
