19 October 2017: CarillionAmey organise a fun day and football challenge for SSAFA

We are proud to support our corporate partners, SSAFA and all the work that they do for our Armed Forces. Recently, our supply chain partners Bell and a team from our National Housing Prime contract in Scotland hosted a fun day and football challenge in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, and raised £2607.22 together.

There were 16 teams in the football tournament in total and the final game came down to Bell Group Kirkcaldy, who took first place, vs Bell Group Airdrie, who took second place. Around 200 people attended the fun day where they could enjoy face painting, cup cake decorating, balloon modelling, a bouncy castle, space hopper races and a candy cart.

The fire service and police also set up at the event to let children have a look in their vehicles and answer any questions. The ambulance service also came to let the children sit in the ambulance and learn about CPR. To end the day there was a raffle, auction and a trophy presentation for the football tournament.

On the same day a team from our National Housing Prime contract in Speke also raised £125 for the Armed Forces charity by organising a fun football challenge at Brookvale Recreation Centre in Runcorn. The four team league challenge had 25 players from our Customer Service Centre and guests from the local area, each player donated £5 to play to go towards SSAFA.

Despites the challenges that the teams faced with the weather, our team came second place. The team hope to hold another challenge next spring and have challenged themselves to raise £250 in the next tournament.

James Davis, Corporate Partnership Account Manager at SSAFA, said, “Both of these events demonstrate what it is that CarillionAmey and its suppliers do best – engaging their employees and a wider audience to raise significant funds for SSAFA – and having a great time along the way! Not only are these sums fantastic in themselves but they’re also enough to fund the training of five volunteer mentors who work with wounded, injured and sick personnel struggling with the transition to civilian life. On their behalf, and all of those we help through our partnership, a huge well done from everyone here at SSAFA and here’s to the next event!
