Earlier this year we received the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award. The award recognised our commitment to employing 10% of our workforce from a military background and we’ve made a promise to help more people find rewarding work with us.
Part of this commitment is to work closely with the Careers Transition Partnership (CTP) to encourage the recruitment of ex-Service personnel. All of our vacancies are advertised on the CTP website and candidates who apply via that route, and meet the minimum criteria, are guaranteed an interview with us. We also hold an internal database of CVs from ex-military personnel for consideration for future vacancies.
Last week, we further strengthened our partnership with the CTP by attending a careers event in Wales. This aimed to network with Service leavers, so we could share opportunities and help individuals gain an insight into civilian employment.
Jolene Hall, our Recruitment Advisor, Jemma Cornah, our HR Advisor, and ex-regular Mike Lewis, our Local Customer Service Centre Manager, were on hand throughout the day to offer advice and support to those leaving the Services. They were also helping them to identify the career paths within CarillionAmey that best suited their qualifications and skillset.
We currently have over 150 staff in our business from the military community including Reservists, Veterans, Cadet Instructors and Military Spouses/Partners. We know that their skills and experience with teamwork, loyalty, motivation, problem-solving and leadership can help us deliver the best service possible. We recognise the value of the skills Service leavers and their families bring to our business, they help us to better understand and serve our customers and make a real difference to their daily lives.
