Teams from our South East Housing and Regional Prime contracts recently took part in a safety focused training day aimed at improving the way we manage Point of Work Risk Assessments for our engineers.
The training session was named ‘a day in a cave’ and organised by Steve Matthews, our Health and Safety Specialist. He encouraged those who attended to turn off their phones and laptops so they could fully focus on reviewing our health and safety documentation, processes and procedures relating to Point of Work risk assessments.
Peter Franklin, our HSEQ Director, opened the session and acted as facilitator to ensure that the relevant health and safety processes were fully reviewed. He also encouraged attendees to raise any safety concerns and encouraged them to work together to influence decisions on the management of health and safety within our business.
During the event, teams also listened to presentations on hazard registers, business compliance and the importance of risk assessments with the overall message being ‘working collaboratively will reduce incidents at work’.
Steve said “The day was a very worthwhile exercise with participants from our senior operations team and representatives from our supply chain partners discussing our current processes and sharing ideas and best practice from both our contracts. Our aim at the end of every day is to make sure our staff, engineers and tradesmen go home to their families each night with no injuries or affects to their health”.
