28 September 2017: CarillionAmey volunteers get Sea Cadet training hall in ship shape

We’re proud to support the military community, recently members of our Aldershot Housing team used their volunteer days to help on a project to bring the old TS Swiftsure Sea Cadets training hall back to life. The team needed to upgrade the tired hall ready for the Sea Cadets’ inspection on 18 September.

Due to the hall still being actively used, there were some challenges to overcome, but the project was completed on time and to a high quality. The team, who themselves are in the middle of a supply chain transformation project, repainted the entire hall and Steve Paine, Delivery Manager, fixed up the tiling in the toilets. Our supply chain partners ISS managed the external works and Bell Group supplied the paint for the teams.

The Sea Cadets, from the Farnham, Fleet and Aldershot Unit, follow a cadet training programme which sees them learn a range of subjects including engineering, first aid, catering and music as well as sailing, rowing and kayaking. The hall is utilised to complete much of this training, weekly.

The inspection took place following completion of the project and the Sea Cadets were awarded the highest level. Bob Crewdson, Commanding Officer, said, “Outstanding jobs at the unit are usually completed by Cadet family members or staff who work there on a voluntary basis. If it wasn’t for CarillionAmey the main deck would never have received a new coat of paint in time for the inspection. Thank you all.
